This is a fascinating (and hot!) show from late in the band's career. Just 29 more days would see the last show (not counting the reunion gigs that took place). It's an incredible shame, and this show provides ample evidence of just what a loss it was for the band's fans and the music world overall. Check out this show, then check out a contemporary show from, say, Phish or WSP. There's no question, dreamspeak was easily at the same level (ahead of where WSP was in '89, I do believe). Danged....

A terrific dreamspeak show from Columbia's steps as part of the Earth Day '89 celebration. In the late 80s, dreamspeak's Earth Day gigs at Columbia were always a blast. At first, the idea was to digitize some cassettes for personal use, but a dreamspeak fan within the live music archivist community stepped in to provide a quality transfer and formatting. Given that the masters for this show are available, this source should be removed when said masters are transferred.  Hopefully, that will...

An incredibly hot show that will make a believer out of you! This one starts strong and never lets up. Along the way you've got a guest shot by John Popper (Blues Traveler also played at Springfest that day - you can find their set on the LMA as well) as well as one by Michelle Lewis, a very popular singer at Columbia/Barnard at the time. Song selection is fairly standard for the time (which is to say excellent), with some real standouts ("Late To Rise" is my happy place). And then...

An excellent show from the Willie Bonham era. Also, that's Dave Geller on percussion - Gordon Clay (Nappy G) hadn't yet joined the band. At first, the idea was to digitize some cassettes for personal use, but a dreamspeak fan within the live music archivist community stepped in to provide a quality transfer and formatting. Given that the masters for this show are available, this source should be removed when said masters are transferred.  Hopefully, that will happen before they disintegrate....
